Год, начинающийся б апреля одного года и заканчивающийся 5 апреля следующего (1992/93 бюджетный год начинается 6 апреля 1992 г. и завершается 5 апреля 1993 г.). С 1994 г. это положение изменилось и бюджетный год будет совпадать с календарным, начинаясь 1 января и завершаясь 31 декабря. На бюджетный год рассчитываются налоги: подоходный и на увеличение рыночной стоимости капитала, ежегодные скидки налогообложения наследства; в Великобритании в бюджете делаются оценки развития экономической ситуации в бюджетном году. В США бюджетный год начинается 1 июля и завершается 30 июня следующего года. Иногда бюджетный год называется tax year-налоговый год или year of assessment-годом налогообложения.
