Во время выключения компьютера на монитор идет сигнал для перехода в режим ожидания. Экран монитора, самый уязвимый его элемент, при этом полностью гаснет, а о работе монитора в таком режиме говорит только светодиодная лампочка желтого или красного цвета. Такому режиму требуется минимальное энергопотребление и на долголетие монитора его работа никак не влияет.
Упоминаемый «режим ожидания» был придуман уже давно и стал настолько популярен, что употребляется при разработке, выпуске и эксплуатации подавляющего числа электронной бытовой техники. Её подавляющее присутствие в доме ощущаешь только с выключением света.
