Fix: Debugger has been found running in your system
Some users are prevented from running certain applications or games with the “debugger has been found running in your system” error. Most of the time, users affected by this error report it occurring right after they try to open a game launcher.
This sort of error means that something other than the application you’re trying to open is currently managing your resources. If you’re trying to open a game, the first places to start looking are applications like GameGuard or external antivirus suites.
But before you do anything else, do a simple restart and see if the “debugger has been found running in your system” error is resolved. Some users reported that the issue went away after they did a restart.
If you’re currently struggling with the “debugger has been found running in your system” error and a restart didn’t help, start following the methods below. This article contains a selection of potential fixes that other users have used successfully to fix or get around this issue. Please follow each method in order until you encounter a fix that manages to resolve the problem in your situation.
Method 1: Making sure Windows 10 is up-to-date (if applicable)
From our investigations, the “debugger has been found running in your system” error mainly occurs on Windows 10 systems that are not up to date. Quite a few users have reported that the issue is fixed on their Windows 10 computers after installing the pending Windows update.
Note: If you don’t have Windows 10 or if your OS is up-to-date, skip straight to Method 3.
Here’s a quick guide on installing the missing updates on your Windows 10 OS:
If you’re still encountering the same error when opening certain applications or games, move over to Method 2.
Method 2: Adding the game/application folder to Antivirus exception list (if applicable)
Most of the time, users affected by the “debugger has been found running in your system” error have managed to identify their external antivirus solution as the culprit.
Note: If you’re not using a 3rd party security suite, skip straight to Method 3.
Affected users have managed to resolve the issue either by adding the game or application folder to the exception list or by uninstalling the 3rd party antivirus completely. It turns out that Windows Defender will not produce this sort of problem.
The vast majority of user reports point towards AVG or Mc Afee as the main external security suites that will create false positives resulting in the “debugger has been found running in your system” error.
One way to deal with this conflict is to navigate to your antivirus settings and add the whole application folder (containing the executable that is showing the “debugger has been found running in your system” error) to the Exclusion list. Going this route will enable you to continue using your 3rd party antivirus. But keep in mind that the exact steps are highly dependable on which external security suite you use.
Note: If you’re using AVG you can reach the exception list by navigating to Options > Advanced Settings > Exceptions. Once you arrive there, click on Add Exception, select Folder as the Exception Type and choose the folder containing the executable that is displaying the “debugger has been found running in your system” error.
If your AV doesn’t have an exclusion list or you can’t find it, you can also uninstall the security suite completely from your system. To do this, open a Run box (Windows key + R) and press Enter to open The Programs and Features window. Then, scroll through the application list and uninstall your 3rd antivirus.
If this method wasn’t applicable or didn’t help you to fix the “debugger has been found running in your system” error, move down to Method 3.
Method 3: Reinstalling GameGuard
If your external antivirus was not to blame for the “debugger has been found running in your system” error, let’s see if GameGuard is causing the issue. Some users have reported that the error went away after they reinstalled or completely removed GameGuard from their systems.
Note: Keep in mind that most games that are released nowadays are using their own systems to protect against cheats and other types of exploits. Because of this, GameGuard is largely unnecessary (unless you’re playing a very old MMO). Even more, GG is known to conflict with certain games producing the “debugger has been found running in your system” error.
Here’s a quick guide on reinstalling or removing GameGuard:
If this method wasn’t applicable or didn’t enable you to get around the “debugger has been found running in your system” error, move down to Method 3.
Method 4: Opening the application in Safe Mode
While this might not treat the cause of the issue, it will most likely allow you to open the application/game in question. Some users have managed to get around this issue by opening the executable in Safe Mode. This likely happens because the application is opening without interference caused by other 3rd-party processes that might be running in the background.
To boot in safe mode, click the Start icon (bottom-left corner) and hold the Shift key while clicking the Restart button. Once your computer boots up into safe mode, open the application and see whether it opens without the “debugger has been found running in your system” error. If it opens without problems, open Programs and Features (Windows key + R, then type “appwiz.cpl” and hit Enter) and systematically uninstall any 3rd party application that might be causing the interference.
If you’re still getting the “debugger has been found running in your system” error at a start of an application, move down to the method below.
Method 5: Using a system restore point
If all of the methods above have failed you, one sure way to go around resolving the “debugger has been found running in your system” error is to use a system restore point to restore your machine to a state where you were able to open the application without issues. However, this method might not be applicable if you don’t have a system restore point older than when you first started experiencing these symptoms.
Here’s a quick guide on using a previous System Restore point to restore your machine to a state where the “debugger has been found running in your system” error was not manifesting:

500mb, wine 220mb.

Guest application trying to set TF flag in eflags. Т.е.

A debugger has been found running in your system on Windows 10
Many Windows users are not able to start an application or game on Windows 10. When they open the application they face the following error message.
A debugger has been found running in your system. Please, unload it from the memory and restart your Program
A debugger is a program that monitors processes for the purpose of finding bugs in the runtime environment. This error is usually encountered when you try to open an online game or any application that requires you to send download and upload files to a server in real-time.
A debugger has been found running in your system
First, restart your computer and check if the issue persists.
If that doesn’t help, then make sure that you are on the latest build of Windows 10. For that, open Settings and click Updates & Security > Check for updates and install the update if available. Else, these are the things you can do to fix the issue on Windows 10.
Let us talk about them in detail.
1] Reinstall the Program
The first and foremost solution you should try is reinstalling the program that’s causing you trouble. You can uninstall the program from Settings > Apps. Search for the program, select it and click Uninstall.
Now, redownload or reinstall the program and check if it fixes the A debugger has been found running in your system on Windows 10 error.
2] Add the app to your antivirus Exclusion list
You need to whitelist the program from your antivirus software. This post will show you how to do it in Defender. If you are using third-party security software, you will have to follow a similar method.
3] Run the program or game in Compatibility mode
Run the program in Compatibility mode and see if that resolves the issue.
4] Troubleshoot in Clean Boot State
You can check for the problem in Clean Boot State. This way we will know if the problem is because of another software.
In Clean Boot State, check if the issue persists. If it does appear, enable each Startup individually till you find the exact culprit of the issue.
Hopefully, you are able to fix the error with these solutions.

As sophisticated as video games become, the more complex their algorithms become. With these complex algorithms, we have started facing new errors. One such error is:
A debugger has been found running in your system. Please, unload it from memory and restart the program.
The cause of the error is that gaming companies want to prevent users from debugging their source code to protect their data.
If the game suspects anything such, it will try to block the launch to protect their data.
We could try the following steps to resolve the issue:
Solution 1] Windows update using Powershell
Perhaps the interfering debugger could be from a recent update. If Microsoft fixed the patch, a complete Windows update would help fix the cause. This has to be done using Powershell.
1] Press Win + R to open the Run window and type the command PowerShell. Press Enter to open the Powershell window.
2] Type the following command in the Powershell window and press Enter:
3] Restart your system.
Solution 2 ] Restore your system
1 – Search RSTRUI in Windows search box.
Solution 3] Try again in Clean Boot state
1- Search msconfig in Windows taskbar search.
2 – Click on msconfig from the search result.
3 – Now, Click on Services tab.
5 – Now, click on Disable all.
7- Click on Restart now.
8 – Now, when the system restarts in Clean Boot state, then try again.
Solution 4] Rollback Windows updates
Since the issue could be with a recent Windows update, we could try rolling back recent updates and check if it helps.
1] Click on the Start button and then on the gear-like symbol to open the Windows Settings window.
2] Select Updates and Security from options and click on View update history.
3] Click on Uninstall updates and from the list of recently installed updates, right-click and uninstall the troublesome ones.
Solution 5] Add the game to your antivirus exception list
The error occurs if the game senses that some software is trying to debug its code. More often than not, this is done by antivirus software to check from malware hidden in the source code of applications.
In such a case, open your antivirus application and add the game as an exception to the list of programs to be scanned. Restart your system after that.
If this doesn’t work, you might consider disabling the antivirus temporarily to isolate the issue.
Solution 6] Check for recently installed third-party applications
If the game was working fine earlier and has started showing issues recently, it could be possible that a recently installed third-party application might be interfering. We can check and remove the same.
1] Press Win + R to open the Run window and type the command control panel. Hit Enter to open the Control Panel window.
2] Go to Programs and Features. It will open the list of all programs installed on the system. Sort them in the order of date of installation.
3] Check if any recently installed software could be troublesome. Usually freeware and lesser-known software are problematic. We could try deleting them to isolate the issue. They could be installed again later.

Debugger error when trying to run Uplay (Windows 10 build 10041)
When I try to run Uplay, I get:
«A debugger has been found running in your system. Please, unload it from memory and restart your program.»
Thanks for contacting us with your issue. The best team to contact for assistance with an issue like this is the Ubisoft Support team. You can contact Ubisoft support through our ticket system’s webform found by clicking on «My questions» on this page and then clicking «Ask a Question».
If you have any issues using the webform, you can contact support for assistance through their Facebook page, Twitter account or by phone.
However, at the moment, with Windows 10 being an as yet unreleased operating system, support for using Uplay under Windows 10 is still being worked on. As a result, while the Ubisoft support team will do all they can to help you, there is no guarantee that a fix for this issue actually exists because Uplay hasn’t yet been updated to support Windows 10.
Solution
I just had this exact issue after updating my Windows 10 tech preview.
Right click Uplay and run as administrator. It solved my issue.
Thanks for sharing your experience GAmbrose1982, hopefully it will help kingmustard69 get Uplay running on their system.
I have the exact same problem, and uplay will not start even if run as administrator.
What can i do.
It started after upgrading win 10 tech preview build 9926 to build 10041
Same here. Not start even if run as administrator.
Windows 10 Tech Preview build 10041
As I mentioned above, Windows 10 has yet to be released, and official support for the OS has not yet been added to Uplay. It’s certainly something that is likely to come in the future, but as of right now it’s not, so you might experience issues when trying to run Uplay on a Windows 10 setup.
The best thing you can do is to contact the Ubisoft Support team to see if they have any documentation that can help you find a solution, but it’s possible that Windows 10 won’t run Uplay correctly until a) Windows 10 is released and b) Uplay is updated to support Windows 10.

This is the most BS response I have ever heard! Especially considering all the other major game distribution platforms IE Steam Origin Desura, and even GOG’s offering are all working on Windows 10, and when a new build breaks it, they release a update to their clients to fix it. This is just another example of the lack luster crappy support you get from a company that even months after still have not fixed the major problems in their most popular IP, as well as their newest IP.
Again that response is nothing but a cop out and an excuse!
Support for Windows 10 is certainly being worked on, but I disagree that it’s a cop out not to make a beta client for a beta OS available. There is no doubt that with Microsoft offering free upgrades to all Windows 7 and 8 users, Windows 10 will end up being used by a vast number of PC users, but until it’s released, offering a stable beta version of Uplay that supports it would be, at best, useful for a small number of users and at worst confusing for uninformed PC users. Either way it would take up valuable developer time that can be more usefully directed towards other projects.

If Valve and the rest of the digital distribution services have already gotten their stuff working with Windows 10, I fail to see why you can’t get it working either. There isn’t much changed in the OS itself besides DirectX 12, and UX changes. And it doesn’t make much sense of your comment of a small number of users, at last check there were over 10 million installs of Windows 10 TP. And considering the Uplay client has worked until the release of the current build 10041. So again I say it’s a cop out. And as far as resources, for what? AC:U is still broken, FC4 still is broken, The Crew is still broken. And all of these are not worked on by the same developers. In fact the Uplay client from what I have been told, has it’s own dedicated developers. And are not involved in any of the Game Development, So your logic is flawed.
